Season Update

FALL 2026 WILL NOT BE PLAYED

We came up short of the minimum number of players needed to run a fair, competitive first season, so the Fall 2026 Vikingball season will not take place.

Everyone who registered and paid is being refunded in full. Refunds go back to the original payment method, and we're emailing every registered player directly.

Thank you to everyone who signed up, came to Try-It-Out Night and Scrimmage Day, and helped build this from nothing. We're not done — planning for the next season starts now.

Meet the Owner & Head Referee

DAVID WEISS — FOUNDER & HEAD REFEREE

My name is David Weiss, and I am the founder, owner and head referee of Vikingball League. I created Vikingball with the goal of bringing a new, competitive and welcoming recreational sport to adults throughout the Pittsburgh area.

The inspiration for Vikingball started with a tournament I played in during middle school. The game stood out to me because it combined teamwork, strategy, athleticism and fast-paced competition in a way that felt completely different from traditional sports. Even years later, I still remembered how much fun the tournament was and how exciting it felt to be part of something unique. That experience eventually inspired me to take the original concept and develop it into an organized adult league.

I am also a personal trainer, so fitness, movement and helping people become more confident through physical activity have always been important to me. I wanted to create a sport that gives adults a fun and exciting way to stay active, compete and meet new people without needing years of experience in a traditional sport.

I have been involved in every stage of building Vikingball League, including developing the rules, designing the playing field, organizing practices and events, recruiting players and creating a safe and fair environment for competition. As head referee, my responsibility is to keep the game moving, enforce the rules consistently and help new players understand the sport.

My vision for Vikingball is bigger than simply creating another recreational league. I want it to become a strong community where adults can challenge themselves, stay active, build friendships and be part of something new from the very beginning.

I am excited to welcome players to the inaugural Fall 2026 season at Harrison Hills Park and continue growing Vikingball throughout the Pittsburgh region.
